Hip To Gable Conversions
A typical roof often features a sloping side, which is known as a ‘hip’. While this is a very popular roof type, it does hinder the scope for loft and attic conversions, as it impacts the space available in the roof. However, hip to gable conversions transform your roof and unlock more space for your loft conversion or extension to flourish in.
Hip to gable conversions replaces the sloping side (the hip-end) of the roof with a vertical one, known as the gable-end, meaning that there is much more room available for the extension. This extra space means you can use your loft for an office, a play space, an extra bedroom – whatever you see fit! Since 2008, planning permission is not usually required for these extensions, although you may want to consider checking with your local authority just to make sure.
